Here's my entry to the Blogger's Quilt Festival being organised by Amy As I'm in a Japanese frame of mind after the sashiko workshop at the weekend I thought I'd share my Tukusan Tsugi (Many Patch) quilt made in May this year from a pattern in Fabrications magazine (issue 59).
I've acquired a lot of Japanese fabric, I just love it, and thought this quilt design showcased the fabrics beautifully. The fabrics come from shops all over the world, including in Florida and in New Zealand, but not from Japan! I am visiting Japan next year so I hope to replenish my supplies!
As always this quilt came with some learning - in this case, not to use polycotton sheeting for backing fabric in an attempt to save money, disappointing results, yucky to use and to feel!
I hope you are enjoying the Festival, it's very inspiring isn't it. Thank you very much for visiting my blog, God bless you, Lis.
Very Beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful:)
ReplyDeleteI too love Japanese fabrics & designs the ladies there are making some amazing quilts. I went a little crazy in a fabulous store in Tokyo, five floors of fabric, one devoted to quilt fabrics.I have pics of my shopping!
ReplyDeleteMy DH has a Kimono given to him by business associates in Japan, it is a fascinating country- we love sushi so that helps!
I have a little sashiko bag project that I will NEVER make so perhaps I should send it to you? let me know if you'd like it-I can send you a pic. of it in a few days when we get back to AZ. My arthritis keeps me from very much handwork.
Thanks for your very kind words about my NYB stasH quilt, you too CAN make one!
Lis this is really pretty! I've been down the fals economy route of poly sheeting too! Not recommended for hand quilting! Lessons are always better learned by experience! Great quilt!
