What are you doing on 29th April?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/royal-wedding/

What is everyone who hasn't been invited doing for Friday's wedding of HRH Prince William and Catherine Middleton?
Things are getting up to speed here and the British reserve is starting to ebb as people shyly erect bunting and gazebos in preparation for parties large and small.
I'm having a very small affair, a red, white and blue themed watching of the main event on television and then a wedding breakfast, hopefully in the garden, weather permitting, of smoked salmon and scrambled egg with pink champagne and then an afternoon tea, pretty cakes and delicate sandwiches, very English!  What will you be doing?

  1. I'm demoing and teaching at the Wealden Quilt Show, Crowborough, East Sussex - All Saints New Church Hall, TN6 1ED. The show opens from 9 - 5 on Friday, and includes a retrospective of quilts from the last decade (its the 10th anniversary) and a wedding theme - inc a display of wedding dresses (inc. Jennie Rayment's outrageous calico wedding dress from FoQ last year) - and we will have a TV so we can watch the wedding too. Also open Saturday 10 - 4. I'm selling the new Japanese quilt book there for the first time. Should be a fun day!

  2. I was going to ask if you would be doing anything to celebrate the wedding and wondered what the atmosphere is like in England in the build up to the big day? I think I'm coming to your house for breakfast!!! smoked salmon and pink champagne what a great way to start the day!
Hope your week is going well

  3. I was wondering what people in England were going to do. I can't imagine trying to get around in London at this time. The news coverage starts at like 4 am Eastern time here in the US. Have fun!

  4. I would LOVE to be there to celebrate with you, Lis! Food sounds yummy and the company would be awesome! I will be up at 3 a.m. USA time to watch the royal wedding and will probably be glued to the TV for the rest of the day! Should be an absolutely lovely day. Please post pics of your celebration. Love and hugs, Joan :-)

  5. I have a friend who is travelling in Europe and will be in London on "the day". She said she is going to go and revel in the crowds. Me, I'll be at home, probably watch a bit on tv, as the one channel I get is covering the affair. I'll raise a glass to the newly weds. Your do sounds super fun, and soooo British. Wish I could attend.

  6. My DH and I are spending the day at my Mum's care home where we'll all be watching the event on tv and then having a garden party lunch. Mum loves Royalty so it should be a lovely day. DH has got a Union Jack top hat to wear so he's bound to get a few smiles from the ladies. :-)

  7. For me, am attending Maroon 5's inaugural concert here in Malaysia. Live and broadcast? Do I have to answer that?

  8. I thought the wedding was coming up this week. What is the 29th of July? Did I - a goober from CA - miss something?

  9. Can I come to your house?
Seriously though, I will have two English quilters staying at our place for a couple of days. The wedding TV coverage will be shown Friday evening (NZ time) so I am planning a little supper, with a glass of bubbles. DH has been told no sport allowed on TV, only the wedding! He is not impressed. No doubt there willa blog post to follow. Have a great day.
